There are some threads and posts on this site that make me feel terrible about myself

It's all about patience and will power. The difference in price between a 180g and a 240g is kind of substantial, but I've been wanting a 240g for years now. When I go into my lfs, I always walk by their 180g and 240g display tanks (the tanks on display have fish, but they order the tanks if you want it). I keep telling myself that I can easily save for a 180g, but I've been wanting a 240g for awhile now. So I just have to keep thinking what will make it worth it in the long run. So, I'm still waiting for that 240g.

Op is our fish tank drama queen ;)

I have a 9 gallon and a 300 gallon...I would like to have a 60 gallon square planted but I can't...it is not even about money...

Of course, it could also that I have no fish tanks...someone like to remind me when I express my dismay about my situation ;)

Here's a story...
When I was a kid, I had so many 10g tanks all over the house because they were cheap to buy. One day, I found a 60g tank for dirt cheap, so I got that too. I never bought a stand because stands were expensive to me. One day, I just got tired with all the tank cleaning and how they were all over the place. The 60g never looked as good as I thought because it wasn't on a stand. I decided I wanted a complete set up. So I saved and even bought piece by piece whenever I would find a good deal. I found a 75g tank stand at Petco that they were selling 50% off because of a small "dent" in the wood door that I couldn't even see. Then a few months later the guy at Petco sold me a new Fluval canister for half price. A friend's friend was working at a lfs when he hooked me up with some black sand for half price as well. I decided I was going to buy the tank last, so I don't have the urge to set it up without it being complete. I almost got everything for half price because I was patiently waiting. It took almost a year, but it was worth it.

build a huge tank Redearsunfish! you obviously know how to do filtration lol

Dude, i'm going to build a tank one day that will get me arrested because of general awesomeness.

haha, the best looking tank I ever had was a planted 10 gallon. No filtration and a DIY Co2 unit. Cost almost nothing to start, and about 20 bucks in plants, some free cherry shrimp and 15 bucks in a 7500 lumen compact flourescent. I knew nothing about plants at the time, so it took alot of learning about pruning and such. But after 3 months it was pretty impressive. the shrimps were quite entertaining to watch.

Money and size have nothing to do with having an impressive tank, all you need is to have a vision, patience and some time to work on you tank to make that vision live.

Wish I still had that tank...
