There she blows....New 180 acrylic tank with stand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update, filling the tank up this is what I got so far. I will probably re-arrange the rocks and take some out, but just going with the flow. No decision on stock yet...it is just spontaneously coming together. Maybe leaning toward the Moba/Mpimbwe Gibb thing...or maybe some nice Malawi Haps....or the infamous Moshi or Bulu Point Petros (I seriously doubt Petros...but the reds or yellow would look dang nice). It's filling now!20180131_183823.jpg

It holds water too :) Black sand is filthy...spent hours rinsing and still fairly cloudy. 20180131_200858.jpg

Looks really nice, thats a great looking tank too!

I got a 240 Uniquarium last October, have loved it so far. I was going to swap pumps as well, but was too anxious to get it running, decided to run the rios until they start flaking off and they have been fairly unnoticeable so far. Mine is running on 3 of them, but I have 3 spares also, because the first tank that got delivered was busted, so I stripped all the stuff out of it (bioballs, drip plates, lids, pumps, sponges, etc.) and refused the tank.

I’m really liking the look of the tank. I can’t wait to see it when you are done and have it stocked.

:D:D So, the guy at Adavanced Aqua Tanks told me to take the stuff out if I wanted to because the tank would just be cut up and disposed of anyways. I figured they'd send me a bare tank and I would add the stuff back in, then an entirely new tank showed up with all the stuff again. So I have like 35 gallons of bio balls and no idea what to do with them other than hang on to them or sell them. Can't imagine what I'd need it for.

Uni has been awesome, I do have to remember to add water every 3-4 days because it evaporates quickly because of the filtration. Other than that, loving it still. I need to pull the sponges out and give them a good squeeze, it didn't have more than one occupant until a few weeks ago, so its been pretty clean.
Right now it has (2) Severums that are about 4" and 5", (1) adult EBA, and a juvenile rotkiel seve. So pretty light for a 240 tank. Between that stocking, light feeding and the tank volume I have yet to see any level of nitrates. I have gotten close to orange, but mostly undetectable.

However, that will change. I have (3) Uaru a. in QT as well as (5) Geos in QT. They came in really small, so they will be a while before they get to go to the big tank. My larger sev is kind of a jerk and would more than likely snack on them.

Any suggestions on a light that will cover from front to back when placed mid-tank. This Lifeguard 60" is a loaner. I was thinking the Beamswork da fspec 72" that has 182x0.5w LED's, but 8000 lumens seems intense...
