Thermometer guns work with water?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a $20 laser temp "gun" for when I was heavily involved in nitro r/c. This thing is over 3 years old and is very accurate. I don't shoot it at the outside of the glass, but rather shoot it staright down into the water. Matches all my tanks' thermometers. So, no, you need an expensive one.

I am so glad you brought this up Mount Prion! I hadn't considered using a temp gun this way, but it sounds like a great way to check the temp of water change water (I've done well using my finger) and it's a great excuse to go to Harbor Freight!

Not that I ever need an excuse for a Harbor Freight visit... ;-)

I have a cheap one off eBay for like $10 shipped and it was only 1 or so degree some times the same degree as my in tank thermometer. Its not a laser one since it was so cheap but it has an led light and light screen. So just make sure you know what you're pointing at and plus water is hard to miss.

heres the one i have but mines red http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Digital-Blac...LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd73af818&_uhb=1
