thermometer question

well I don't really have any experience with those in particular. All I know is thet the Jager's are cheap and very reliable. Don't discount them based on their price

I prefer the Stealth heaters, mine is always right on.

Stealth heaters rock! i got 2 and the temp never moves at all. i got an aga on another tank and it has stuck on twice on me, it sucks. i will never buy anything but a stealth again.

last question "i hope"

i have my heater on one side of the tank.
should i have my thermometer on the side with the heater?
or on the opposite side?

what I generally do is start with the thermometer on the side w/heater check to make sure it is accurate then move it to the other side of tank and make sure the temp is consistent throughout the tank. assuming you have good enough water flow throughout your tank it shouldn't really matter where it is

I personally try to keep them at the oposite ends.. but I think it would be safer to do what ammerman19 suggested. you can get a good idea of flow then. I like to also put my heater close to the intake on my filter that way it helps pull the heat around the tank.
