i got some straw, made loops of it (sizes of loops may vary) around my hand, tied a small part of the loop with rubber band, and started cutting the loops on the end opposite the knot. (you may want to cut them diagonally to make them look like blades of grass.) then, tie them to a weight. i used claypots for mine but you can also use other heavy things.
