Hey everybody. Im new to the forums. They sent me here from another forum. Said you all know your stuff.

Here's a pic of my 6 inch bichir. Can you id it for me please. Just so Im not looking at pics and guessing. The tank I bought it in said palmas, but Im thinking Senegalus.

Also, can you throw me any good links to information on this type? Maybe with compatibility, feeding, and such. Ive had it for a few months now, I just would like to learn more.

Simply thaw and feed
our local market can be a great source of foods check the seafood section of the freezer
You can use just about any foods you find there including
mussels
shrimp
most fish filets (avoid salmon i think its to oily)
Pellitized foods
Can be found in various diameters and forms include sinking and floating pellets and sticks
shrimp pellets
worm pellets
even pellets for cichlids will work
spirulina sticks
brine shrimp sticks
Algae wafers(some eat them some just look at them)-Anne

you beat me to it anne, oh and the people at the other forums are right, oh and we're humble too. nice bichir btw, and your right, its a senagal. and this is the ultimate source for bichirs on the web(in my opinion, aquatic predator.com is close to but i never read their threads.), just do a little reserch by looking at older threads, thats what i did for three months before i joined.

you cant tell till hes 6-8 in., if it is then it looks like its hermaphroditic . but seriously, it looks like its on the verge of being male or female, you can tell its male when its anal fin is big and females have small ones.
