Thin Bar Datnoids Keepers thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bought this one a few months ago...he's about 2.5" and always stable.

So far so good. Haven't got him to eat pellets yet though so I'm cutting up market shrimp and stuffing it with little pieces of Massivore or NLS. He's taking freeze dried shrimp and frozen krill too.

I just got a couple 2.5 inchers a couple days ago. They are doing well so far despite the fact that when they were delivered they were in extremely cold water laying on their sides about to die. I've also got a 7-8" NTT, here are some pics....

Nice little thinbars there...

Thanks guys! I'm still experimenting with different foods but I haven't seen either of the two little guys eat anything yet. I know dats can go a long time without eating, but I'm still a little concerned just cuz they are so small.

I've lost 3 small Thinbars in the past to parasites-vowed never to get them but bought 2 3" three months ago.

One of them ate dried foods straight off-the second won't look at them. The growth difference between them has really confirmed for me that you'll never get good growth without pellets-he eats Hikari floating sticks, massivore delite, sinking carnivore pellets, earthwom sticks, dried river shrimp and the usual frozen goods. The smaller one only eats frozen food but is stable and 4". The bigger one is around 6" but unstable and hides.

The smaller one had a bout of gill flukes and is recovering at the moment in a smaller tank. I'm trying to beef it up a bit. I'm proud I pulled it through as I lost my last Thinbar and two 7" Indos due to flukes earlier this year.

I'm hoping at least I've gotone of them through the critical Thinbar stage.

BTW if you want to see an amazing Thinbar check MarvinBaker and Chaitikas out-both unreal and BIG.

In the begining when I first got my little 1-2'' thin bar datnoids, they wouldn't eat for 2 days. Then on the thrid day I decided to try market shrimp, and blood worms. They consumed that and now their 3-4''.
Try some shrimp and blood worms. Now their eating cichlid sticks..
