I got 6 5-6" thin bar silver dollars 2 males n 4 females in a 300g. The thing is that the 2 males are the only ones that have bite marks? On them, one being more "bitten" up than the other. Is this normal? I really don't think is it's tank mates because they are only some marbled archers, torpedo barbs, red head tapajos, and a bunch of clown loaches. Any help would be great thanks!

Oops forgot to say location of bites lol. Location is right at the belly of the males.

I have 5 fairly mature SD...4 differnet species. The female Red Hook 7" is the biggest and she and my female my. Rhomboid 6" boss the others around including my this bar. They nip at each other...never seem completely at peace like the shoal i envisioned!

I just purchased a 3" red hook today and it was with two others in a tank. I watched them for a while to see which I would get because they were going for $30 a fish and as I watched them they were constantly nipping and chasing each other. One fish had quite a bit of damage to its anal fin as though it was the lowest in the pecking order. I have had aggressive Red hooks before and I have assumed if you don't have a large school to disperse aggression then you will probably notice more damage to the other less dominant fish. JMO

Maybe it's because you got different spieces? As for mine all I see from time to time is a turn around bump, that sometimes results in a loss of a scale or two. But don't see a full on bite that could cause the damage that is on one of the males.

I've got 6 in the 300... Wish they had more but, that's all they had. As for the damage it doesn't look severe but does got me concerned and worried that it might get worse.
