make it out on the ice yesterday, still pretty thin out here in MN but had to get out there and get the season going, got a couple crappies what are you guys catching out here?

I just got done walking my dog in shorts and flip flops and still managed to work up a sweat at eight in the morning.

white bear lake has 3-5" on belair side depending were you go. most bays on larger lakes in the metro have enough to fish on. my fat ass isnt going out intill maybe mid next week. i want it to be good and solid before i go out. 2-3" of good ice with 1-2" of garbage isnt strong enough for me to feel good. i have gone through 2 times before, not doing it again. once was enough, but the second time was due to a newly formed spring on a lake i fished for years.

We've been hittin the ice here since late October. Been gettin lots of smaller trout, and today I got a 23" pike. My favorite lake finally iced up this past week so perch, pike, bass and gills should be comin soon

you must be up in the mountains. i was shooting ducks around here in october.

The first lakes I hit this season were around 10,000'. Now there's safe ice down to around 6k. It's been a warm year, and most places are icing up late.
