Your location says FL? So, where'd you go? I thought that FL was NY's backyard.
It depends on where he is in Florida. South of Jacksonville is North and North and West of Jacksonville is South!
I am from Alabama and let me tell you a bit from experience from this list...
Its not possums you see dead. Its armadillos. The bastages are EVERYWHERE~! The crazy part is, they are so dumb, if you run over a live one and make sure it goes between your tires it will usually jump straight up and you hit it anyway!
Snakes....LOTS and LOTS of snakes. In Bama we had nearly all of the venemous sp...coral, diamondbacks, timbers, copperheads, and cottonmouths! Of course any water snake is a copperhead or water moccasain (cottonmouth)
We dont go barefoot cause of stickers. For those of yall lucky enough to not know what stickers are, they are a small plant that grows in even the nicest of yards that have these tiny seed pods with nice sharp little spikes that will dig deep into a bare foot. From an early age you learn how to indetify this plant and avoid it all cost if you are ever outside with out shoes!
Ive always called it a buggy, not until I moved to KY and got my first job pushing carts did I start to call them...well carts!
Fixin' to, it doesnt mean you are actually repairing anything. It means you are about to do something. Dont ask me why or how, it just does!
Sweet tea, nothing better then sweet tea and biscuts n gravy for breakfast~! I was SHOCKED to find out that many resteraunts in KY dont even serve sweet tea. They all said, "you can add sweet n low." Come on now, sweet n low tastes like crap compared to good ole Milo's sweet tea!!
While we are on beverages, every carbonated non alchoholic soft drink is coke. Its not pop, or soda pop...its coke. If you go to a fast food place and ask for a coke, its not uncommon to hear..."what kind?"
Distance, is measured in minutes. "head down that road there about 4 minutes, then take a left down into the holler and after about 6 minutes youll come to a stop sign where youll turn right..."
HS and College football is life!
Naw, 95*F with 99% humidity is...a bit warm. Really though, those kinds of days get to you. As soon as you step outside you are drenched in sweat and its so muggy its hard to breath!
In Alabama I remember that I couldnt wait for February to be over to get those 60degree days back so I could put my shorts on and start fishing again!
One day sooner then later I hope I will be moving back South. Funny thing is, many people consider KY part of the south but in reality its MUCH different!
Edit to add: How could I forget Okra?! I LOVE okra rather its fried or in some gumbo or stew! Yum yum! Guess where is the only place I can find that serves fried okra up here in KY....yep...WALMART! haha Every once in awhile I will buy a bag and end up eating most of it before checking out! Heck my dad jsut came up two weeks ago and one of the things he brought me was breaded okra.
