Things to feed tiger oscar...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine prefer hikari gold, and I also give them shrimp from the grocery store ..( be sure to rinse it first, or ut makes the water cloudy) and cut pieces of prawns. Hmmm, ....I've also picked up some salmon filet ...the part of the filet that's from close to the tail is cheap, de boned, and they seem to like it. I give them the pellet first then they get the treat...it's kinda like telling them to eat their veggies first;).

same as above but i give worms, crickets, slugs, gypsy moths, salamanders, flies, and guppys that i raise.

Yes, as the above posters have said, live and frozen foods are a great treat but a well-balanced diet will come from pelleted food. My oscar loves Hikari Gold but turns his nose up at Staple.

same here. find the one your fish likes. or better yet, don't give him a choice. just go with the Bio-Gold.

I have bunch of pellets and granules that are going to waste due to finneky fish. just pick the highest quality one and stick with it (along with frozen, fresh, and freeze-dried supplements).

Honestly, this thread should have been titled, what can't I feed my Oscar. they eat anything and everything. Mine love crawfish and they are a free treat. just make sure the stuff you feed dosn't have too high of a fat content. Shellfish will make it color up nice and pretty due to the Keratin in their shells.

Where do you get feeder crawfish?

your local creek?

AND WELCOME TO ]v[FK!!!!

I would buy the crayfish, on the account of not knowing the possible pollutants in a natural body of water

Rubber bands and silk plants. Well at least that's what i saw coming out of one in a picture someone posted not so long ago.
