Things you hate about Fishkeeping

Having all the equipment take up lots of electrical sockets. Sometimes the maintenance can be a pain in the butt. I tend to go for more simpler tanks these days so maintenance is not so bad. Sometimes the fact that tanks take up lots of space can can be a negative thing. But I keep only a few small tanks these days so it's ok. I also hate it when you get a really picky fish or one that is really shy/skittish.

Also the initial cost of planted tanks and upkeep. But if you are smart you can achieve it on the cheap and also upkeep could be easy depending on type of plants. When you got a planted tank and need to net a fish out, it is such a pain in the ***. I always prefer if I never have to do it but when I do its not easy.

Water changes, people who think that my oscar will explode like a piniata or something just because he lives in a 55 gallon tank, and the fact that i couldn't catch a fish if my life depended on it, the closest ive been to it in a year is reeling in a mullet only to find that it had been bitten in half by a @!$&?! Barracuda.

Whiners! I have 50 bucks in a complete used native 46b setup. All my fish are free and I have a blast catching them. My 100g rubbermaid was free with a diy $20 filter. All their food is collected and free. If fish get too big or I neef more room they make a tasty meal. I am way over spending money and worrying. You just need to match your budget to your addiction.

Exactly. My expenses for fish keeping is really low. And I am content with what I have, in fact I will downsize if I feel I need a break or don't have the time/energy to take on extra responsibilities. Some people have no control and are never content and also don't recognize what is good/bad for them. They take on huge responsibilities, get burned out, then give it all up together and "get out of the hobby". I don't see fish keeping as a "hobby". If you have passion for animals you see them as pets, not a hobby. And those who are responsible people will have more longevity with their pets/animals and satisfaction.

Not these people that " get into the hobby" to impress people or feel like they fit in. And immediately want to be the ones who get all the best or rare fish. Once they obtain all that or think they have impressed people, and see no one really cares, they get burned out and quit.

I really hate getting water everywhere when I do tank changes. Dislike when you have super greedy fish who eat everything before the others have a chance so you have to hand feed the handicap ones, example my Goldfish. I also hate agonizing over a fish, finally buying it and realizing you bought the meanest one. Happens to me everytime.
