Think banksy is a MFKer?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is Daniel Lloyd Morgan. When a Banksy piece of artwork pops up somewhere overnight, this guy rushes to the site and paints it before it can get defaced or destroyed. He's an artist in his own right, though his depiction of the goat on the wall isn't really anything to write home about, lol.

There's loads of stuff on line regarding Banksy, he's quite a mystery man. He's been active for a long time. He does his work under the cover of night and, up to now, no one knows his/her true identity, though speculation has been rife over the years.

Not too disappointed, the affectionate elephants are quite nice actually.

I think a picture of "cavorting clown loaches" would have been nicer than those "affectionate elephants."

I need to find a wall somewhere and sort this out, lol.

Sorry to disappoint you Ulu Ulu .....affectionate elephants by Banksy.

I must thank you profusely for this Esox! This elephant picture gives me a much clearer idea of what Banksy is doing. I quite approve.

However his choice of paint was rather thin and runny. Temperature of wall and air are both very important when choosing/applying paint.

Not that I ever painted on someone else’s wall. But in the pre-environmental protection agency days I did a number of cars and motorcycles and machines.

Most of them were very conservative but some of them were Rattfink crazy.

Appropriate for Fresno would be to maybe put giant cockroaches coming out of a Taco Bell billboard.

You could actually pre-manufacture them and then just slap them up there quickly with a pole and some tacky glue. Much faster than any on-site painting one could do.

But we also have a lot of security cameras around this area, and those things discourage clandestine activities of this type. That’s one of the reasons Clovis is such a nice place to live.

I don't know if you guys are familiar with Banksys most famous artwork.

As well as his usual surprise night time antics, he has done normal paintings too, at least people thought it was normal until it went to auction! One such piece, " girl with a balloon", was in a frame and depicted a girl with a red balloon, surprise surprise!

It went to auction and sold for over one million pounds. Then, to everyones horror at the art auction, no sooner had the gavel gone down to seal the deal, the picture started to self destruct in front of them!!

The picture was in a frame and Banksy had a small hidden shredder cleverly built in the bottom of the frame. I'm not sure how it was activated but the whole piece of paper started moving through the shredder. It jammed half way down leaving the top half of the picture in the frame intact, and the bottom half dangling out of the bottom shredded. Apparently Banksy hadn't planned this, his aim was to shred it all!

The painting was renamed, "love is in the bin", and it was decided that the original asking price still stood!! Extraordinary really, but that half shredded painting is probably worth way more than the one million it originally sold for.

There’s nothing like a really elaborate practical joke. :D

I did a bit more digging on this as I only really knew of the basic story. It's astonishing really.

Apparently "girl with a balloon" was painted in 2002 but it didn't actually get to auction until 2018, where it sold for a little over a million pounds. Immediately just after it was sold it started to self destruct, but only got halfway until the shredder jammed.

The buyer still took the half shredded painting, probably knowing full well that the value of this piece, even though it was damaged, would sky rocket....and sky rocket it did!!

In 2021 the painting, now renamed to, "love is in the bin", sold at auction for over 18 million pounds!!! Feck in hell!!!

What a shrewd investment by the original buyer!

Here guys, anyone wanna buy a picture from me. It's a steal at 18 million quid. I've appropriately titled it, "absolute fecking rip off." Lol.IMG_20240820_182007_HDR.jpg
