Thinking about a mega tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
One of the biggest costs of a mega tank is the on going cost. Many people that set them up end up getting rid of them. It's not cheap to heat, filter, feed and get the water for a 10,000g let alone a 100,000g.

Shark aquarium and others used to host joint trips to the Amazon and then would help ship the fish back that you catch. Now that the store closed down not sure if he still does those trips.

Agreed with Nzfai, its one thing to setup a large tank, but its a completely different story maintaining the running costs of such a beast...

Just the food / electrticty bills will make you think twice...

Where is Vince?
He's got 4000G tank setup, he would have an ideal of the cost to setup and on going long term cost for couple thousand galons tank :p
*I really wanted to setup a 10000G saltwater and the cost estimate by some professional builders is over 500k dollars....

I think the best you could do is a 9 x 4 x 4 acrylic build. It's the largest tank you could build considering the sheets come in 9 x 4. It's still plenty of room for some monsters.

Hmmm, yes we all dream about 100 000g setups. I have the ideal space and the means to build a 5000g tank, the thought of having to clean this, especially the glass, would quickly turn my hobby into a chore, so I'll stay with my 500g, happy that that's as big as it's going to get....

I wasn't thinking... I meant to type 8 instead of 9.
