thinking about a pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wow, i was totally wrong about the estimates of the pond. the measurements that i posted before my ideal. actual size is about 8ft round and about 2 ft deep, and then another smaller pond inside it thats about 4ft round and 1ft deep. this equals 754g + 94g = roughly about 848g of water, but probably adding in 750g. pics of the finished diggings will be posted shortly.

i have bad news, parents decided not to let me build the pond and i was just done digging today.

well here are the pics i promised.

What a bummer. Hate it when they dont let you do your own things. What was the reason they didnt want you to have a pond?

yeahh i know really. my parents were like their friends saw the hole and they said they once had a pond that was concrete and it was a disaster. but the thing is, this pond isn't going to be made out of concrete, but still they won't let me. i'm helpless until i turn 18. :(

Hide all the shovels and wheelbarrows... Convince them concrete usually only works in warmer climates, even then a liner pond is still the way to go. Be persistent!

Question: did you ask your parents before you started digging? I have 4 kids and I would be pissed to come home and find one of them had decided to build a pond in our backyard without asking permission first!

Once you are 18 that doesn't mean you can start digging again. If you want the pond, I suggest sitting down with your parents, quietly, show them pictures of what you have in mind, and try to convince them how beautiful it will be.

Tell them how it will teach you respect for nature, responsibility for the fish and most of all proud to have such understanding parents.

lol, yes. i've told them notice a couple months ago in time. they approved it back then because they thought it would turn out nicely, but one of there stupid friends came over and told them how awful a pond can get to be in years time. so yeahhh they still won't let me do it. it sucks.
