Thank you!

I've been very concerned about this! What are we talking 10years before I have to find something bigger? I have been sticking with the smaller upper jaws because of this, though I do like to overstock, so smaller is better still in my case!:naughty:

90 gallon 48x18x24

thanks guys im pretty sure we are going to get a delhezi my wife likes them better. But we arnt going to get it untill are oscar passes. Then we are buying a new baby O and if we can find one a baby delhezi so the can grow together hopfullly without any compatiblity issues.

African Cichlids and Bichirs cohabitat in the same high PH water? they come from the same locations in Africa...

Only African River Cichlids live in the same area as Polypterus there are others Such as some of the Great Rift Lakes that have high pH 9-10 that is very different to the 6.8-8.0 that exist in African River systems....

So technically no bichirs do not cohabit the same locations of High pH...They will tolerate high pH but they do not find it naturally....

On-Topic: A Del will be a better poly and a growout will be fine that Oscar will pose a problem as they manly find small poly as worms

Good choice on the Delhezi...checkout palmas palmas as well another good looking poly.

Thank you for the clarification on this, I appreciate the knowledge!

Good call on the Delhezi, that is going to be my next bichir I'll buy as well!

well the oscar i had before he died at such a young age of 6months was very nonaggressive and wouldnt heven touch feeders a fourth of his size that he could swallow. thats why i was thinking get a baby O and a baby del so maybe they could be friends but i know i couldnt get like a small O cuz the del would eat him so get what the big box retails say is a "medium" O and a smaller del so but my thinking could be flawed.

I still wouldn't recommend an O with Polys of differing size my Del was too small for his LFS O Tankmates to eat so they just nipped off two of his finlets and chunks from his caudal fin....Jewel Cichlids or Congo Calvus MAY be a better option as they do not get as big but still are pretty cool imo/ime(if you get Calvus your going to need to get a bigger one they grow SLOW)
