No your wrong or maybe just not very observant it is very easy to tell if a fish is stressed or not. You just have to know this fish you keep. If a fish does get stressed and is not able to retreat to deep water or hide, it will continue to be stressed. This can lead to malnutrition or disease, all because of a selfish keeper.
So where do you draw the line? A 6 foot tank that is not wide enough or not high enough. Why not a 5 foot tank or a 4 foot tank with proper width and height? All are too small and if a tank is not big enough then find a different fish to keep.
You can always try out this with your own jar, lower your water level to about 15" for an extended period of time and see how well your jardini does. Maybe then you will change your opinion on recommending keeping fish in undersized tanks.
