Thinking about getting into pbass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know, pbass are fun. After looking at all these pbass pics and vids, it's tempting me so much. I want to get tems, because they are pretty easy to get and are very beautiful. So, if I do get some, how should I setup up the tank? I have a couple diftwood and some fake plants.

you can do anything really lol just aslong as they got some room to thrash about when feeding then your good :D and yea thats what got me interested in keeping cichlas is from all the videos ive seen from everyone Especially from the former Dieselmack! The Cichla King of the century :headbang2 lol and then I saw the orinos...boy they are awesome! my wild orinos gots much more colors than my captive bred one

As long as they have a lot of open space to swim around, decor doesn't mean too much to them. :D

to help you out.. the care for diff sp. of cichla is all basically similiar... as for colorful.. i would not go with tems unless you want a brown fish with white speckles.. they are basically colorless untill they reach 18 inches.. you want color.. i would go with some peru monos or some florida ocellaris. no fake plants, they are pointless and your cichla will just keep up rooting them.. the drift wood is good because you need soft water for cichla.. i would not go with crushed coral it keeps your ph too high and your water too hard. i would not set up a cichla tank with sand either unless it doesnt alter the ph. if you like bare bottom you can do that but i like gravel.. darker colored gravel will bring out their color but dont go too dark. black mixed with other natural colors works great. also a 125 gallon wont be able to house tems too long since they grow faster then all other cichla.

yes but if you want color i dont recommend farm cichla.. jeff rapps has wild peru guys and this other guy on here is selling florida occellaris... florida occellaris are amaazing fish... they look even better in a fish tank. i will get you his contact.
