no they will fight jewels are some tuff little fish and wont pack down to a pair of small jelly bean cons either way a con or the jewel is gonna end up injured or dead.. i dont understand why you cant be happy with what you have just keep the jelley bean cons and forget about adding anymore think about it do you really need to get more fish wouldnt you rather spend your money on other things or save it to buy your 55 when you move out? theres plenty of other things you can get besides fish.

yes thats deffinetley a better idea you should get them frozen blood worms my cons absolutley love them when they are breeding and when they fry get large enough theyll dig right in too but whatever you do dont come back with more fish just enjoy the ones you have

Do not buy a Texas. People will tear you up one side and down the other. I don't post on these threads much, because I believe doing so is an exercise in futility. I would like to offer you some advice though, because like many others on these forums I would like to see you to become a responsible, well-rounded fish keeper, and would like to see the attention that these threads get reduced by 10x. And so would the mods that put in hours of work to keep these forums up and running smoothly. Stop buying new fish. Keep the "Jelly Bean Cons" that are breeding, and thin out the rest of your fish, try to take them to the local shop and trade them in for store credit. Use that credit for food and other essentials, not new fish. Then sit back and learn all you can from this and other websites. The more you learn the less flak you will get from people. GL

for a 10 gallon filter you could get a power filter at walmart for about $15-$20 an under gravel filter is good but they can be expensive the one i bought for my tens are about $40 but if you put sand in it or kept it bare bottom you don't need a under gravel filter

and yes i would wait for sure till you get a larger tank before getting a texas especially if you got a Carpin they can be really aggressive and would most likely tear up the fish you all ready have

I have 3 cons and 2 jewels among many others in my 125g and Ive never had any fighting between them? Dont see why you guys are all up in arms about this mix?

so like 3 weeks later youre going to get a whole new range of fish.
you just got all those tropicals (angels, rams, gouramis etc..)

yeah get the 2 10g's, 2 sponge filters, 1 double outlet airpump, 2 50w heaters.
dont get texas, much to small for a 10g or 29g.

maybe put the cons in a 10g, the fry in the other 10g and keep the tropicals in the 29g

hmm..
