thinking about my first reptile

Why not a pacman for a first? I have always thought of them as easy and basic. On the other hand, Im a ball python guy and even I find pacmans to be boring lol.

I wouldnt recommend the Uro for a first herp. They have specialized requirements that are different than other herps. In particular, they have a need for hot hot temps.

Beardies can have great personalities and I have seen many beardies doing the pirate thing and sleeping on shoulders. I dont recommend it but...I have seen some "free-range" beardies to where the housing was a basket in the room with a heat lamp. Further than that they could roam the room. I think its opening up to potential problems, but beardies are that tame and easy.

There are some great smaller species out there to start with. I started out with crested geckos. Easy, friendly and tame. Another herp that just sat on my shoulder

Pac man frogs are a good pet for a beginner but they aren't very fun and they hide a lot, you can't handle them and you hardly see them because the burry themselves in the coco fibre, this doesn't bother me but it might bother you, my pacman took about three weeks to start eating properly but once they get their appetite they are pretty ferocious eaters, mine jumps out of his hole and even bites the feeding tongs for calci worms.

If you want something you can get out and handle I recommend a crested gecko, they are an arboreal species and don't get that big (10 inches at the most) they don't need a heat lamp just a heat mat and up to two adults can be kept in a 18" x 18" 25" tall vivarium.

you just made my decision harder thanks guys

Uromastyx are awesome. been looking into them myself for a long time now and planning on getting one within the next month. I've read a lot about Beardies and know plenty of people who have them but they just seem to common for me and I always like things a little different then what everyone has. I would def consider a Uro. I find them to be really cool looking and I've handled plenty and they always seem to be nice and docile.
