Hey Everybody,

As some of you may know I recently "inherit" a 50 gallon corner tank. I want to make this saltwater tank easy and low maintenace. I want the critter in the tank look cool and leave people with awe. I've been thinking of an octapus, mainly because they are full of awe and I don't think you can over feed an octapus..then leave the water polluted. The filter is and has been the fx5 so filteration is not a problem. I will be purchasing live sand and live rock of coarse. Now the real question is what kind a octapus can I get (Yes i checked out the site tonmo, havent had any luck with navigation through the site...cant find my threads :( ).

Thanks again MFK!

Also refer to the previous thread "Free 50 Gallon Corner Tank" incase you may know the answer to a question about cycling the tank with the fx5 I already been using with my 72 gallon.

I wouldn't do it. Tough to keep. They are escape artists, they can and will get out of any opening. I've heard of them crawling up intake tubes and ending up in filters.

They really belong in the ocean or in large public aquariums. It is definitely an "experts only" animal.

But ... if you do get one, definitely don't get the blue ring - one of the most poisonous animals out there.

I agree, very high expert creature.

Peraps you guys are right...any idea's on what to stock? Any really cool interesting fish out thier? I'm trying to make it a cheap set up by this I mean no exspensive lights, skimmer and other equipment (fuge...).

Maybe a big QT :) nah waste of space

Really need a skimmer. If not, you pay for $alt on WC. If you want cheap, go FW.

there smart and would escape fast plus read my quote from mudslinger lmao

okay so turbo should return all of his sharks cause he's not a public aquarium... really am tired of people using this as an argument statement. we all can learn. you'd deff need a skimmer and maybe even a locked top and the for intakes use some sort of drain coverage.

I'm just saying there is reason so few people keep octopi.

Sharks are least still fish and have the mainly the same requirements as other fish. But, if someone is not properly caring for their sharks, should they be allowed to keep them? They will and they'll catch hell from people on these forums.

But, the OP will do what he wants and find out for himself how easy or difficult it will be. I have no first hand knowledge because of all the research I've done, say they are very difficult to keep and I wouldn't want to risk killing one.

But to each his own.

BTW, weren't you the one that wanted to build a shark pond or something like that? How did that turn out?

Lmfao I'm reading through the thread and it's pretty funny :grinno:. Well hello guys once more the octapus idea...im probably gonna hold off a little bit and do intense research...so future octa maybe in a year after my intense research...

Puffer I hate you! :nilly:

When you said freshwater I was thinking about when I had freshwater fish tank. I kinda did like it...a lot! If I get fresh I could browse both the fresh and salt section in live aquaria :D .

It would make life hell of a lot easier...and I do like plecos!

I really got to think about it...I got 24 hours to think.

I'll probably spend the time to look through youtube/mfk threads on fresh and saltwater tanks and see what should I do.

Thanks you guys for the replie's and keep the shark talk to the other section  jk
