thinking bout breeding convicts for food :)

If you're looking to breed feeders as an exclusive diet for something like pbass, you're going to be disappointed in growth rates for any of those fish listed. It'll take several months if not longer for convicts to hit 3", and guppies and other livebearers probably won't even hit 3" at all.

Like others have said, you'd need a 2nd tank for the fry to grow out in for convicts as the parents will wipe out any remaining fry when they're ready for a new batch. You would probably need multiple tanks for any of these to be a viable food source. If you're just looking for a supply of 'snacks', then any of these should work as long as you know that they'll take months to get to a reasonable size.

That is true but at the same time the fry of whatever fish you choose to feed them shouldn't be their whole diet. So its not like he will need thousands monthly. He should have a staple pellet of some kind to feed them for the most part. When I fed live fish they where more like treats and not part of the daily diet. So Rob how often do you plan on feeding them fish?
ya it actually more of a treat really .... they have only ever had live food once before since I have had them and never before did they, so they only get live food maybe every 6 months to a year

paradise grow out pretty fast... a 20L would work but the 30 you have would be great a single pair can pump out 30+ fry every 3 weeks and the fry grow extremely fast, full grown in about 2-3 months depending on what you feed.

cons breed fast but take forever to grow out.

guppies can get 3 inches but its only females and it takes nearly a year.
