I told him I was very worried about them getting too big, but he assured me that he has never seen them get bigger than about 2 feet. (I hope he's right)..

He hasnt seen many silvers then. Del has one at about 28" and mine is already passing the 24" mark.

I like the little locking latches that look like hinges, they can be glued to the tank and when latched will hold the lid securely. It worked for my eels.

I have an acrylic tank. You have to be very carefull with what you use on it. Some chemicals will destroy the acrylic and hence, you could break your tank. I heard silicone does not stick. So what can I use if I wanted to affix latches? BTW, drilling works beautiful, so I suppose I could just use screws to affix the hardware on.

Make sure to use nylon hardware too...

I did not think of that, I have only kept glass, the latches do come with screw holes.

i've used a dictionary in the past....also used electrical tape

Silver aro should be fine for your tank, they don't really use up alot of room when turning. But if your really worried about that then get a black aro... i heard that they don't grow as big as the silvers.

your in canada.....why not just get an asian? i wish you could get an asian in the US.
