To the OP, if you want to stray off the anurans. You could go for tylototriton veruccosus, those are active and big eaters, make sure you identify them apart from T.shanjing, which is considerably more difficult. The salamander suggestions above are good as well, unlike frogs, they take better to handling, but should still not be handled. Tigers in particular have that smiley stupid look on their face.
