Thinking of getting an armatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This store is asking 299 I think. It sounded high to me. In that case maybe I should just order one from my usual lfs cuz I know they won't rob me. But if Im Ordering would it be better to go with a tat instead or maybe a school of tats?

Thats for you to decide. You could add the armatus in the tank when ever you want. But if you want a couple redtails vs 1 armatus, that combo will be fine as well. For a 7" army $300 seems standard retail. Vendor will be cheaper, but with shipping it may be close to the same price in the end.

Well is there a huge difference aggression wise between arms and tats? I know tats stay smaller but a school would need more tank space than a single army

I thought the armatus would go after the wide bar sd's?

i doubt a tat could keep pace growth wise with your aro.... i'd go with the Armatus.... 300 doesnt surprise me, he is a 7 inch fish, not a baby... its a reasonable price especially this time of the year, they are difficult to find in the winter

wow that insanely high. you can get them for 75 to 200 bucks. I would wait until the armatus is in season in the spring. they are much cheaper then.

armatus are more ruthless and they don't like fish from it's same species. It's likes to be the 'king of the tank." tat in the other hand are a more "social" payara and can be kept in groups.

they possibly will. My armatus went towards my large angelfish and killed them all.

Thanks for the input everybody! I stopped by the store today and the armatus was gone. Owner said it died. Guess I dodged a bullet on that one. I'll wait until spring then and order one from my preferred lfs
