Thinking of getting an Aro, need a few questions answered

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As long as you don't get a baby with a yolk sac you will be fine. Make sure there is no possible escape routes thru the top of tank They will find the holes. Feed a good diet keep good water quality. Aros are not fragile fish once a few inches long

thanks a lot guys I will be doing a lot of research for sure so thats not a problem, I was just having problems finding specific answers to what I really want to know, so I thought the knowledgable bunch at the aro subforum would be my best bet :D

You won't regret getting a aro they make great pets as said earlier make sure every tiny gap is sealed a good way is to use sticky tape/ packing tape and your probably better off getting rid of the archers they can be territorial and the less stress on the Sri the better

Yeah I was going to either trade in the archers or put them in my 225 if they are large enough, I will probably just trade them for store credit at a LFS. Theyre really nice ones too but I don't want to risk losing an aro

I like starting off having my aro's while they are small and I like putting them together with other fish around the same size. That way as they grow it usually takes away some of the aggression. From my experiences I have found it easier to get baby jardini's to eat what I want them too. Jardini's definitely arent as picky as silvers. I always start off with baby fish. Filtration is a must when it comes to arowanas in general. I use a eheim 2217 (VERY GOOD FOR A GREAT PRICE) and a aquaclear over the back filter. I also try to keep a nice flow in water to keep them busy on swimming and not on harassing eachother.
