Thinking of new Ray filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
3K and (4) 1" drains may not jive according to this phenominal (one of MFKs best) sticky......

Could go with one of the full siphon style overflows, or put the tank under the knife and enlarge the holes or seal them and make new...... IF the rays are getting tubbed anyways it might be the perfect time to hack that thing up. ;)

Teeth can easily be replaced with egg great (lol)

I've had to hack up every tank I have set up to allow decent flow rates.... I run Darts on all my tanks, even the ones as small as 150 gallon without throttling anything back. Flow is gooood!!!

Can you tell us more about the tank? Glass or acrylic? Open to the idea of changing where the drains are or rather not?

100 gallon change every other day on a 250 tank plus that much filtration is probably more than is needed. Is the plan to increase filtration to eliminate the big water changes?

With 100 gallon water changes every other day, 2 fx5s, and only 2 rays I don't think you need to change your filtration.

Glass tank marineland, don't really want to do any drilling. Its probably going to be more like 5 1/2 ft of head. I will still be happy with 2000plus gph.

The only reason I'm doing it is to prolong water changes.my male is already at least 14" so its just a matter of time before I would have to upgrade anyways

I'd go with a drip system. Use one of your drains for tank water level. Use two drains for your sump and the last drain for return. Then on the return, use a spray bar for airation

You should come check out my DIY bioreactors. The cost will be a few hundred with the air pump and small water pump but you could also use it on your new tank once u upgrade

And i can show you the easyiest way to hook up a drip

Thanks for the offer. Just found the container you use to. Definitely going to set up a reactor once we move. We are looking at houses right now. (I have basement envy) so for now just going to be setting up a sump with the plan of adding a reactor and drip in the future.

Just got the tank and sock holders in
Waiting on bulkheads and time to make new stand
