Hear me out...

You know I adore these fish. And you also know that we've been talking about moving for some time.

Well we both landed jobs and are going to be moving sooner than later (mid-October.) We are moving about 3 hours away. We don't know where we'll be staying until we buy a house, which we're working on, but closing is about 45 days on average. We might be doing some couch surfing.

So.... today now that this is all really happening I say.... what do we do with this? (65 gallon)

We're not sure. We are going to give notice at our current rental place 11/1. Let's say I find someone who will put the tank in their place until we buy. I have to go there to feed and clean the tanks, or try and teach people to feed them. (Not all that easy and also adds worry on my end.) And then we have to move it all a second time! Ugh.

Phillip brought up just rehoming all of them. And it made me simultaneously sad but made sense at the same time. Then we get settled into the new place, I set up my larger tank from scratch with LJ bichirs and other fish and I don't have to worry about the mix of UJs and LJs....

Maybe with a few of the locals help or WA fish box (local forum) I can get really good homes for my fish. If I was secure in how to ship a fish I would certainly send Soba the Moke to clm08k clm08k as he is not aggressive and is so pretty. But I'm REALLY nervous about shipping fish as Frank and I weren't successful. :(

Input on any of this?

Thanks for listening. It's all a bit stressful so eliminating one stressor is appealing (but sad.)

This is all so sad :(

I think rehoming is best, unless you can find someone at a fish club or closeby to look after the tank and maybe throw a little bit of money as an incentive?

Best of luck through this mags

Damn this is sad, seems alot of us geeting force to take a break from the poly hobby, im really sorry to hear this but i think its better if you can talked to wetspot on shipping the fish properly, atleast you can still see how the fish will be soing and you its in good hands.
But for sure bith of us will return and jump on the polywagon again:)

I hate rehoming fish, I know what you feel like, rehoming sounds like the best option. You could see if a local fish store could take them in until you have a tank setup for them. You could pay for the food and power. But rehoming makes it much easier.

It also helps me for my upgrade plan, because i know I want some lower jaw bichirs. If I can stomach giving these guys up, I can sort of start from scratch if you know what I mean.

But it's hard for me to give these guys up! Particularly Udon the Del and Soba the Moke.

I just emailed them to see what they have to say about that. It might not be worth shipping anyone but the Moke. If Chelsea is interested she knows that she'll get a really nice colored one that is gentle with other fish. Or I guess another person might be interested just because it's a fish that doesn't hide all the time and I think is a really nice looking one

I guess it's pretty cool to have Udon who is a good sized wild caught Del also with a good temperament. You don't see those every day. Not sure the Teug and Polli are worth shipping to anyone - i'm sure I can find them good homes locally.

Man the poly forum is really quite depressing at the moment I am really sorry to hear about both of your situations and see you both go from the hobby even if its only for a few months or years. Thank you both for your advice and support with all my noob poly questions. I don't think I could ever do what you guys are going to do. You are stronger than me. Whatever happens I am going to try to stick by my poly's till the bitter end. You have both been an inspiration to me and helped grow my poly addiction. Whatever hardships and hobby drama's come my way be it a leaking tank or busted equipment I will do my best to put the poly's first. I'm in this for the long haul to grow my monster polys and keep them safe. Good luck guys and hope to see you both back on your feet and with some new poly's in the not to distant future :)

Wow:(
I feel ya though. If wet spot is willing, I'd pay shipping if you have no other choices on del, teug, whoever. Lmk
I'll cover clm08k clm08k if she doesn't have the $ for shipping too.
I'm hoping you can find another route, but as you said it'd make it easier on you. Will wetspot board them? Just a thought. o_O
