Thinking of rehoming the noodle crew

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You guys are just so sweet and I just LOVE this forum and especially this sub-forum. I really really appreciate the kind words and offers from everyone. It's super heartwarming, especially since so many online forums are places where people just fight and **** on each other behind computer screens.

I have thought about having a fish store "board" them -maybe Wet Spot or more likely my other local LFS, which has done it for people on vacation or for one customer whose tank broke...

But.... After my initial "noooooooo!" thought...

It is so much easier, and less stressful. Even if I boarded them it would be 2 moves and I'd need to have a place to keep the tank running - otherwise my biomedia dies and I have to cycle a tank. UGH.

Then, as mentioned, when I am ready to get a tank going, I just get my 180/220 and start from scratch, and then I don't have to worry about anyone eating anyone, and don't have to have 3 tanks - puffer tank, rope/smaller upper jaw tank, and large tank.

The 20 long will move with us, with Meatball the Schouetedeni puffer. I can put him in a 10 temporarily if need be. That is much easier to set up anywhere and feed.

So sorry to hear about this magpie magpie . :(Rehoming is extremely hard. It makes me really happy to hear that all the members are rallying to be supportive and help you out. You are an incredible fish mom and your crew loves and appreciates you. Want to validate the grief associated with rehoming pets, and also the amount of stress associated with moving tanks. I think that once everything settles down with the move things will be a lot easier. Cycling is a *****. Moving the 65 is doable, but that would require knowing a little bit more about where you are moving to. Moving meatball and the 10/20 gal sounds a lot easier cause the tank is substantially smaller and easy to set up anywhere without taking up much space.

Honestly I'd love to take care of Soba for you, if we can find a way to ship him safely. twentyleagues twentyleagues that is awfully kind of you to offer to pay for the shipping, but I'd probably feel guilty if you did.

Regardless of what you decide to do, we are here for you and want to help in any way we can.

Mags awesome news man. Sucks about rehoming but buying a house is soo exciting im happy for you.
Rehoming fish does suck buts its kind of part of the hobby. Wether it be aggression or just life.

Its kind lf cool that u are getting forced into being able to keep LJ's now lol if that makes any sense.

We did that exact thing last year (moved twice) i know how much you love that del so maybe you can keep her. Maybe you'll be able to set up a smaller tank in the rental. Even a 20 gal isnt ideal but its only for a short time and should be fine. Plus the del is wc and will probably get bigger than most of the dels we see. May do just fine with LJ's either way im really happy that things are coming together for u guys

Thanks Frank! We'll see. I guess I could put the puffer in the 10, and Udon in the 20.... Or just put Udon with the puffer. I don't care if the microrasboras get eaten - the mountain minnows are too fast. And Meatball never chomped Udon's tail, only the Polli / Teug.

There are just so many unknowns and it makes it really hard to plan. Rehoming everyone makes me sad yet also makes me feel relieved that it's one pretty damn large logistical worry that I can take off of my plate right now.

Not yet. The beginning of the week they're extra busy.
I'll try to contact them tomorrow, but am busy trying to buy a home, pack, and there is work stuff going on too.... So will probably be just another email.

They are going to help me ship! They rock. :)

clm08k clm08k is going to think about which fish she wants / her tank can handle and then we'll go from there. She will take the Moke for sure - this makes me really happy. :D

I'm not sure that shipping some of the other fish will be worth it for you all, especially if you can get them locally. But if you guys are interested, after Chelsea decides, we can talk about it.

My main goal is to get them to great homes.
