Thinking of replacing my asexual murder krib with?

I think it’s still likely you have both a male and a female. The female is probably staying in the cave. I’ve never heard of parthenogenesis in kribs (or really any cichlid), and the fish would probably still look like the female in that case.

Parthengenesis is way more extreme than my thought. Cichlids do have a nasty habit of killing their mates, and sometimes they'll raise the kids on their own. Is it possible it just looked more female when doing a lot of what the female would be doing?
Maybe you're right that the other mate is still alive and just extra, super, cryptic now and there is a crack in the rock work I'm just not aware of and they are.

My og pair disappeared for a while at one point. They are phenomenal hiders. That said, it is possible that it killed its mate, but I doubt a lone male would ever show female colors. Females also have a noticeably different body shape.
