Thinning out stocklist :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just fake plants. It would be impossible to keep real plants because of the large cichlids, 14"pleco and 2' eel. Do I'm adding pothos to the sump.

Do you have, or can you set up a drip system on the 220? That would be a huge time saver for you...

I wish...but I don't want to setup a drip until we buy a house. To much risk for me in a rental house.

If you ever to decide to part the bocurti or pearsi you know who will take them :p

You just need a nitrate scrubber man.

I let algae grow on the back of my tanks and on any decorations and driftwood. Nitrates are always 0, and I only do one 50-75% water change per week.

Get a lot of plants in your sump. Since you have cichlids, you won't really be able to grow plants IN your tank.....But you can grow plants ABOVE your tank, and just put the roots in the water.

Also, if you run a HOB filter, you can grow plants in it. Just take the top of the HOB filter off, and put the plants in.

I'd kill myself if I had to do water changes more than once per week. Get some Nitrate scrubbing action going man.

But ultimately, you should aim for a drip water change system. Then all you have to do is vacuum detritus every once in a while. Sucks that you're in a rental and can't hook one up.

What is taking the most time? Water changes or tank cleaning?

it only takes an hour for a full wc, but having to do it twice a week is killing me. I don't really have alot of spare time between work and the baby.

You should come see how big they are getting Chris. The pearsei is a beast, almost 2" thick already

I would add the pothos first and then see if that helps with your nitrates, then go from there.

I know I'm getting rid of some of them for sure, just not sure of which ones yet.

0 algae due to flagtail and 3 pleco's

pothos are going in the sump and maybe in the canopy

No hob's, only sump and canister.

If I had free time I could build an algae scrubber, but I'll start with the pothos 1st I guess.

One day I will have a drip, it's just not in the cards right now.
