Our summer officially begins next weekend. Forecast is 94 - 89 degrees at Shasta Lake. The boat is being serviced, the travel trailer is already set up in the closest RV park to the lake. I am SO ready for blue skies, hot air, wakeboarding, swimming, bald eagle and bear sightings, otter sightings, turtle hunting, hikes up to waterfalls... We wait nine months out of every year (maybe we should just move to Florida) for it to be warm enough. These pictures of past summers at the lake show in a small way the fun we have.

This paradise is well worth waiting 9 months for...beautiful pics and beautiful nature in summer.. overwhelming !!:)

2006 was a monumental year for me. I went on a difficult journey and learned a lot. I learned that everyday is a good day to be alive. We should treasure each day that we are given. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Every day is a gift from God.

We should cherish our loved ones and tell them we love them.

I believe you are absolutely right, every day is a blessing and to ruin every day worrying what may happen is something i work hard on, i want to always be positive and then when the negative happens figure it out. That is incredible that your parents survived..how are they now?? I hope they did not have to go through too much but the looks of that car it looks like many months of therapy..:( I hope you are okay too, bless you!;) You look so beautiful in the pic with your long long beautiful hair and gorgeous dress, but you look beautiful in the pics with the waterfall behind you too.. serene and elegant and showing awesome strenghth.

My parents both came home from the hospital on Christmas day. It was the best Christmas present we could have had. We are very very lucky to still have my parents. Their car was airborne at least 60 feet before overturning multiple times and coming to rest against the only tree at the river's edge, 30 feet below the road. They were trapped in the car upside-down for over an hour before rescuers were able to stabilize the car and get them out. The back end of the car was in the river. My little mother had three broken ribs and a broken left thumb. My father was banged around and still gets light-headed when he initially stands up. The car behind them rounded a corner and noticed my parent's car had disappeared. Fortunately, they stopped and investigated, or my parents may not have been found in time...

In my journey through illness I realized how very blessed and fortunate I was. Everywhere I turned, there were people worse off than I was. I met terminally ill people fighting for their lives with great dignity and courage. In the overall scheme of things, my problem was a small one (although it was monumental at the time). I couldn't feel sorry for myself, God had blessed me too much!:)

well i admire you and your outlook on life, it is true that no matter which way we turn there is someone even worse or going through worse.. and it sounds like it is behind you and i certainly hope that it is... and your parents that is wonderful that they more or less came out of the horrible accident with only minor injuries, I will be talking to you again but just in case i forget to tell you... enjoy your summer!!!:)

According to this turtle, anyways.

Caught it earlier today doing stretch out exercises in it's little corner of the world in bright Sunlight.

It's probably thinking the same thoughts as I would: "Enjoy each day regardless of what cards are dealt....":)
