I guess its true, "Misery loves company".
Althogh I do think you could keep a Betta in that and it would be no worse off then at the petshop you got it.

if it were a gallon or 2 I could see doing a ghost shrimp in it. Any larger than the product as is would probably not be able to draw enough power via USB though
My 2 thoughts have already been voiced, either an afican dwarf frog or a mini reef with low light coral...Although a ghost shrimp or variant on that theme sounds very doable. A betta possibly, but not responsibly..
I would ditch the crappy light though and rig up something better even a 10watt CF would be 20 watts per gallon! Maybe just plant it with an anubus, haha..
