It's apparently a "JEBAO" filter.

Costs 56$ brand new.

I'm thinking about replacing my FX5 with 2 of these little buggers, since the cost of 2 of these is less than the cost of fixing my FX5.

My question is, has anyone had or have any experience with this particular filter or brand?

Cheers,
Tom.

Ps. The site is in German, as i was lurking around the german ebay, looking for a steal, as theire prices are way lower than the Danish ones :p

They most certainly are cheap and a knock-off product.

But if we're honest, there really isn't much going inside a canister filter, so as long as it aint noisy or fall apart, i don't really care about the build quality.

I've had my FX5 for a year now, and i've had to replace the impellar twice, and replaced some thingys cause it stopped being airtight at the lid.
Completely tired of it, and the cost.

DIY is not an option, and the tank is 180gallons roughly.

Did you get your FX5 firsthand?

They have a 3 year warrenty. You can contact Hagen about the problem

Its the same as this one, I believe. Or similar. I have two of them, and love them. Very easy to set up, easy to clean, and don't feel cheap at all. They're large, have decent flow, and can hold a lot of media. I've got 2L of Matrix in mine, plus two trays of filter pads. You could easily do one tray of filter pads, and 3L-4L of matrix in each filter.

One of mine has been running for 13 months straight, only 3 cleanings. Never had a single hiccup from it.

Awesome info guys, thanks!

No i can't contact Hagen directly. Since i live in Denmark we have different rules, or rather the stores that carry foreign products have different rules. If the customer has an issue with one of these products, in this case the FX5, i would then have to send it back to the store, which is pricey, then wait for the store to receive, handle and then they must send it to theire importer, somewhere else in the country.
With all the handling involved i would be without a filter for atleast a month, and i do not have any spare filters than can handle this tank. :/

The price of two of these is by FAR lower than fixing my FX5. An impellar for it costs 80-90$ alone.
(Note: The FX5 is still running and doing a good job filtering, but the impellar is damaged from sand, so it makes ALOT of noise, and it sucks in air, which you all know is very noisy aswell)

I'll definatly be ordering some of these little buggers, now that i have heard some decent first hand info about them :)

I had an impeller issue with my FX5 and sent it back to Hagen and they fixed it and sent it back no questions asked.
