Well to me... that seems a lil high for a 9"er....."BUT"... if its local and you get to see the fish in person, plus... in the case that the Black Aro seems nice, doing well and healthy, why not just pick that beauty up..
But also depending on HOW BAD you've been wanting to have a Black aro Swimming gracefully in your tank! Where as sometimes when u order shipment of fish, you don't get to see it in person to know of its health!

is that so? coz it just aint proper to call a black aro "blue". why would anyone do so? i mean for the sake of proper discussions, we should try to call varieties their proper names. black south american arowanas should be referred to as "blacks".......
Osteoglossum Ferreirai would be the best name for proper discussion. As with many fish, when using common names the same fish may have more then one. Most call them black aros, but there has been a recent trend towards calling them blue aros. It really don't matter, same fish.
$250 would be average retail price here where I live. They are not commonly found in LFS in this area.
