I took another look today and now I'm not sure what it is. It didn't seem as bulgy as it did yesterday. I hope it's just a sore.
I understand that if it is a tumor it might have spread. That's why I've also been looking at the rest of his body to see if there are any others.
Right now the SG is around 1.004 or so. I was trying to get it up higher. I'm amazed that you had one live in freshwater for 8 years. That's gotta be some kind of record. If it's not the salinity of the water, could it be things like nitrates? There are a lot of guppies in there and it's hard to keep up.
I wish I knew what this was. At least if I knew it was a tumor I could put his driftwood back in so he could hide.
Oh and, Pufferpunk, whatever this is isn't pinkish at all. It's red like blood. I'll try to get a picture so you can tell me if it resembles what your goby had.
