THIS IS FOR ALL THE TALL-TANK MFK'S

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's actually only 770 and it has been a huge headache, but I think once I get it up and running it will make me happy to the third power as well.
That's weird that different calculators give different measurment unless I am not understanding the results. You say your tank is 770 gallons, but the MFK calculator says 898 gallons at those dimension, why is that? Also akliaz33, I sent you a PM, did it come through?

898 gallons is using external dimensions (120x36x48). I just tried 117.5x33.5x45.5 (since my acrylic is 1.25" thick) and I got 776G. It's listed as a 770G on http://www.tropicalfishstore.com/ultraquariums.htm

I like the following calculator...it gives you a lot of cool info: http://boonedocks.net/fishtank/ftweb.php

Remember to account for the thickness of the acrylic when determining internal dimensions. It's crazy how just 1.25" in each direction results in a ~130 gallon difference.

I responded to your PM. Looking forward to seeing your progress! Post pix of that monster when it arrives!

kind of late but..... Very Nice setup Knobhill!!

great tanks guys,

here's my diy plywood 6ft L, 3ft H , 2ft D which works out around 220 gallons,
i built it because as i looked at my old 5ft by 2ft H all glass tank, i always thought how much cooler an extra foot in height would look,
its also a great way of adding gallons when length is limited ( my tank is in the living room).
Cleaning is a pain in the a** but its def worth it :)
