This is how big of an aquarium you would need to keep a great white shark

I’ll take it...
That’s what the aquariums were doing wrong. They were putting them in too big of tanks, they didn’t know where to go so they died. 180 is much more proper.

Something tells me google was thinking about dogfish (and even then 180 is really only good for a juvenile).

Lol. That bit does look pretty bad but obviously the 180g recommendation isn't referring to the great white if you read on. Not even search engines are that stupid! And no one, you'd hope, would even think of doing such a thing anyway, let alone actually do it.

But more disturbing, i think, is that 180g IS a minimum recommendation for other smaller species. Species which as you can see from the clippet below grow up to about 3 FEET!!!

So Mr Google, a species of shark which can reach 3 foot in length, which has to continuously swim in order to keep oxygenated water passing through its gills, is ok to be kept in a 180g tank?

I wager that people will, like us, laugh at the great white bit, but guarantee that somewhere there will be someone desperate to keep a smaller species of shark, see this crap on Google, and go ahead with it!!!

Even the inactive ones like catsharks should have bigger tanks. They don’t need to continuously move but are still 3 feet. 6x2 just isn’t enough.

Great White Sharks swim/migrate hundreds and hundreds of miles for breeding and sources of food, ect. They have to have water running through their gills constantly. There is no aquarium that could contain them unless it was about a billion gallons. Just my 2 cents.

Even then it’s not enough. Aquariums have tried in the largest tanks with juveniles and they slowly withered away over months. Shame too because they are so fascinating and easily the best looking shark imo.
