green sunfish, cheeks give it away

ur pond is low in oxygen or high in nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, or the fish is not happy in some other way

very aggressive fish, this guy is quite large, hybridism is always a possibility in the sunfish family so keep that in mind
 
thanks and the waters green because theres to many dam golde fish in there. there only in there because i took down my pool to build a pond with tree levels. and i new u where being a smart ass my freinds are to
 
i live in cali too, and it is definitely a green sunfish, but the local fisherman( i am one myself) have been calling that fish the Rock Bass for as long as i can remember. another reason why common names mean **** with fish.

Its a Green for sure... Although I catch BassxSunfish mixes and they look kinda like green sunfish in the face with a longer body they look kinda cool people around here call them warpaint bass
