THIS IS NOT A PYTHON!
This is a 15 foot Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake - the largest ever caught on record, in fact.
This snake was found Near the St. Augustine outlet, in a new KB homes subdivision just south of Jacksonville FL.
A little research revealed the following:
One bite from a snake of this size would contain enough venom to kill over 40 full grown men.
The head of this snake alone is larger than the hand of a normal sized man.
A bite from those fangs would be comparable to being stabbed by two curved, 1/4 inch diameter screwdrivers.
The knife being used to draw out the fangs for the bottom picture has a blade around 6 inches long.
This snake is estimated to have weighed over 170 pounds. (How much do you weigh?)
Notice the girth of this snake as compared to the cop's leg in the first picture (and he is not a small man).
A snake of this size could easily swallow a 2 year-old child (and dogs, pigs, etc).
A snake this size has an approximately 5 1/2 foot accurate striking distance. (The distance for an average size rattlesnake is about 2 feet . )
This snake has probably been alive since George Bush Sr. was President.
Now just ask yourself these questions: What has this snake been feeding on and where are its offspring? a.jpg

Why do they always have to kill such impressive animals?

:(oh no why do you think they killed it.. he is so awesome i thought for sure he would go to zoo or snake habitat.

The snake's head appears to be in a clamp (tilted back, so it's clamped hard) and it's body is hanging fairly limp. I hope it is alive. If anyone knows for sure please post.

You are now my favorite moderator! Crotalus Adamanteus normally reach 10 ft at about 1 pound per foot. They only have hemotoxin but with the size of it's head and venom glands it is potentially the deadliest North American snake! It is not the most cantankerous rattler but it produces the most venom. You rock thanks for the pics!

I meant 2 pounds a foot normally! Crossed with a reticulated python (lol).Resent one was caught in the same location recently at almost 8ft. 10 foot is uncommon but I've heard that was around a record. Most don't make it to 6 ft due to habitat destruction. These pics are sick!!!! Yeah they probably killed it.

I used to keep large boa constrictor, and I can tell that those are blatanly exxageration! If it's 170 pounds, how can the lift it in a picture with that stick? :grinno: That snake may capable of swallow a 6-pound rabbit, but 2 year-old child is not something it's able to swallow :screwy:
