How big is it ?,from the pics it looks like it over 2 inches

Good find anyore ? I wonder if this is what was messing with your babrbs. Any new injuries on any of them ?

I don't think you will find a real problem from these guys. I had some stragglers when I tried pulling water lettuce from my pond. Aside from being creepy they didn't bother much, juvenile cichlids found everything and made short work of it. I'm not exactly sure what this bug is, so I'll hijack your thread a bit.

KILL IT WITH FIRE!

gross. That thing looks huge

The insect in that picture isn't a dragonfly larva, it's a small dragonfly or possibly a damselfly- can't tell without seeing the wings. See the fuzz on its front and the narrow abdomen? Either its wings haven't expanded yet (the larva sheds its exoskeleton and the adult crawls out with its wings all rumpled, the veins have to be pumped full of fluid) or its wings were damaged and can't unfurl. It won't last long if the latter is the case, usually something gets busted internally if they're roughly treated while that soft and delicate.

I guess I am lucky none of them ended up flying around inside my home lol. I caught him one morning when I was trying to over winter water lettuce, or another pond plant I can't recall. I didn't bother him after snapping the pic. Guess we know what convict has to look forward to.

I had a couple of damselflies in my room after bringing a few former pond plants inside. They were easy enough to capture (I have a long-handled net), so I put them outside.
One ended up in the bathroom and sat on my clothes while I was in the shower. Odd thing to step out of the shower and see.
