O.k, here is the situation, I have a 8" african lungfish. I had him in a 75 g for growout, but my rtc grabbed him by the tail and ripped at it, it became shreddy. I put him in my 38 temporarily with one african cichlid, 2 little convicts, a 4" senegal bichir, and cuckoo catfish. He stayed under the driftwood for about 3 weeks, and then I moved the driftwood to the 75. Now he's in the open, while he was under the driftwood, everytime I looked, he looked better, but now he looks terrrible!!!!! My little convict has ich and I treated with Mardel, and it hasn't spread but the lungfishes tail is very ragged with white bits on it, and his skin is pitted in about 7 places.. Theres pics below..... I have no clue what to do as he is my favorite fish and I dont want to lose him!!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!:confused::nilly:

bacterial or fungal infection from being bit

i think its melafix or pimafix cant remember which one does what. just google it.

Don't use either. These extract meds tend to burn lungfish breathing organs. Just treat with salt and raise the temp to 84-86F. I was given a LF in much worse shape (a full 1/3rd of his body was torn off) and brought him back to full health with a regenerated back 1/3rd that even colored back in after a couple of years.

ooo thanks for the correction!

Alright, I'm raising the temp. how do I treat with aquarium salt, I've added it before when my african clawed frog had a fungus infection, do I just put it directly into the water or behind the filter? And how much per gallon? Sorry I sound like such a noob.
