When I opened the glass lid, with just a split second my 12" crossback jumped right out from his tank and this is what happened. He lost 80% of his caudal fin, 15% anal fin and cut off his right barbel in half. My heart sanked, I panicked and got so pissed. Then I felt so sorry for him after I saw his condition. I never thought that my crossback will do this in such a young age. What choice do I have? Its done. I'm just happy that he's alive. Water parameters are good. PH=7, ammonia-0, nitrite-0. I raised the water temp to 30 degrees celsius, added some aquarium salt, melafix, turned the lights off for 24 hrs and prayed to God that all his missing fins will grow back to normal. I hope that he recuperates fast. :( What else can I do? any suggestions will be appreciated.

My apologies for the dirty glass.

The fin damage seems so severe. Hard to say if the fins will regrow although it may never look as good as it was before.

hope for the best and always be proud of your fish :D it's like your prodical son who likes to get out. hope he recovers soon.

Thank you guys. He torned his fins and due to stress right after he jumped out from his tank. He was flipping on the floor for a few seconds before I put him back in.

ouch, that sucks. but at least he's still alive.

Ouch!

Be glad it did not suffer internal injuries. Uglier fins may come out of it ,but it still will be your Crossback.
