Hello; Back in 2001 I taught at a small college very far back in the KY mountains. The only choice for eating was a buffet. Some of the faculty had children. I watched a couple of kids getting peanut butter with their fingers. I have been told this sort of thing gives our immune system a workout and make it stronger. (maybe with a disclaimer so long as you don't catch something and die).
I also guess being in public school classrooms for over 30 years sort of worked the squeamish out of me but somebodies fingers in the peanut butter was enough to put me off PB for that schoolyear.

I watched a kid pick his nose and then grab a handful of Mac n Cheese at Golden Corral one day. Then he walked down the line and coughed on a few dishes and his mother didn't say anything to him... Classy.
I don't really eat out that much anymore... Working where I do, I know things I never wanted to about people lol
