This is why you ALWAYS use a check valve.

Nothing could stop me from being in the hobby. I take a lickin' and keep on tickin'

about a yr when i set up my current aqaurium, my airpump was on the bottom of the tank along with the powerstrip. fearing a impending doom of a syphon, i moved it on top of a shelf behind the tank. needless to say......about a week ago, my building lost power and i was gracefully saved by that small act.........in any case sorry for your loses man.

hate to tell you this but check valves have a reputation for failing after a couple months of use.

didn't know that

Note to self: Always remind customers to get a check valve.

I am sorry that that happened to you, but hopefully it will save atleast one of us from that.

Thank you!

I have used your "28 gallons of hell" advice and replaced all of the check valves that I have now, since I can not afford $30,000........

or to lose the piece of my azz that my wife would surely remove for me!

That's my experience, that's why I keep all my pumps above water level now.
