OR you call the fish and game on the LFS and tell them what they sold you....YOU dont get in trouble they do..and they might let you keep your fish.

Although I am almost certain the fish will be confiscated, I agree, that is the best course of action.
 
He's going back tomorrow, I had a nice (but not really nice for them) long conversation with the LFS owner. Its not the best course of action because some other chump might end up getting one, but at least I won't have an illegal fish.

I would still call Fish and Wildlife on them..or give me the name of the LFS....they have to be reported the fish is illegal for a reason....more ignorant people do not need to be sold them and releasing them when they dont know what to do with the monster they did not know they were buying.

Please please please report your LFS for this!
 
I'll do that after I return the fish, as beautiful as this gar is, I'd like it gone so I'm not screwed.

Absolutly, positivly DO NOT DO THIS. Worst advice ever.

They are sold constantly in cali. They arnt supposed to but they constantly do. Leave well enough alone. Just keep ur fish and shut up. Dont post it here just shush.

MFK doesnt not support illegal fish;)
 
The gar is gone, oddly enough I woke up at 3 am to the sound of splashing. My smaller fish (4") were nipping at the (5.5") gar.

I don't see the point in reporting the LFS store, because after a little bit of research, most non-chain FS sell spotted or florida gar as marbled or speckled gar.
