Meh, we have to follow federal minimum too. Get a job in a field that makes more than minimum wage. The only people making minimum wage around here are in food service, or work at a LFS (like me, but even there I make $7...).

yeah thats great and all, but youre not talking about kids with their first job. the people affected are older, have families and established careers with good salaries. theyre not exactly working in a field that pays minimum wage. just imagine if you were making $60k a year only to get told your pay is going down to $6.55 an hour. thats ridiculous

Yep.. that's really the problem.. you have people who are used to having a salary and have a mortgage with already crappy economy cut down to $6.55/hr.. Think about how many people work for California goverment in one facet or another from landscapers to office workers.

Then think how many own homes, or have other bills they can't pay off of $6.55/hr.

Because someone couldn't do his job he just made thousands of other people's lives as well as the economy as a whole much worse.

Yeah...Ca is expensive and to cut down government workers' pay to $6.55/hr is ridiculous. And it's only government employees. What makes him think that they won't quit and work at McDonalds for $8/hr?

does anybody know if this inlcludes ALL state workers, or certain ones? i cant imagine somebody retarded enough to propose reducing the salary of the California Highway Patrol or other state law enforcement down to $6.55/hr

a buddy of mine is a high school/middle school counselor that works out the UC system. naturally, hes worried about this crap. he could be looking at going from $45k/yr to $13k/yr.

jesus i could get a job here just putting stuff on shelves and be getting 13 dollars an hour here how can anyone survive on 3 pound an hour ?
