i been told many times about me taking in fish and that im not realizing that they dont suit in a 35g, majority of the time the fish i take in is for family bisness down in baja california which we have a really huge tank (450g), and its really getting annoying. so to get to the point, wat kind of fish is suitable for a 35g. the reason why im askin this is because most of the time i am willing to take in fish, the owners wont let me take them because they think im gona put them in my 35g. which im not. and i know cuz i did my research and found out why not. and also to understand wat kind of fish i can keep in my 35g.so i will appreciate the comments and replys. plz bare with me, so ask any kind of questions or concerns. i just wana understand MFK members and them to understand me. thanks

according to your signature you have 2 SD's, a pleco and a ck. first the fish in your avatar looks like a pacu, not a silver dollar. silver dollars dont have black edging on their tails. so a pacu, a pleco(im assuming common) and a ck will all get much to big for your 35 and your 100g thats also in your sig. that is empty. there are 1000s of fish that will fit in a 35g but were not going to start naming off random fish without even knowing what you like.

Why don't you use your 35 for a quarantine tank? Put a few cory cats in to keep it cycled and a good clean up crew.

Other than that, small fish. Tetras, etc.

I must say though,, it sounds weird that "many" people don't want to give you their fish. So often that you're tired of it? How do people find you out to get rid of their fish, then decide not to? Something smells fishy. LOL

The fish in his avatar looks just like my 3 year old Silver dollars! Both of mine have black on their tails. I do agree that the ck and the pleco will get way too big for the 35 gallon. My 2 plec's (common) are 15" and are in a 125 gallon.
If the 100 gallon is empty move your current stock list to the bigger tank.
As for what to keep in the 35, what do you like? It would make an awesome community tank for some small tropical fish like tetras and such.

Some Silver dollars belonging to the genus Mylossoma can have black on their caudal fin, but they also can get well over a foot long, so they would still require bigger digs.

Edwin, I would recommend Mikrogeophagus ramirezi (German Blue/Gold Ram). They like warm water that is a bit acidic (>80*F and 6.4-7 ph). They are very amusing fish and have the appetite and behavior of a fish 5 times their size. There is also an abundance of information on the web about them.

Another option would be a setup for a couple of schools of tetras. Or maybe some dwarf gouramis and platys. GL

LOL, folks dump their fish on me all the time. I have a few really old tetras...

I did inherit a pair of 18 year old elephant noses from a customer a few months ago. They lived their whole life in a 30g. When I moved them into my 125, it took a good day for them to stop swimming in their normal frantic circle of the size of a 30g. Now they happily explore the whole tank & even eat flakes!
