a 46 gallon would be alright for a while since Rainbow SHs max out at 8''. it will take a while for them to get to that size.

whats ur filtration? be specific please.
 
I would go with the rainbow snakeheads, the thought of breeding seems interesting and entertaining also it is a fish that allot of people don't see everyday, but you will need a bigger tank though. Good ;uck with whatever you do choose

Why would I need a bigger tank?
 
I would stay away from the snakeheads. They require a heavy duty tank due to the power these fish can produce. They are expensive to feed not to mention you'll more than likely get bit and it wont be pretty...
 
Sorry I was thinking flower snakehead, they get to be over a foot and a half....:screwy:

Are you serious??...What makes you say this?? Everything I've read says the rainbows are one of the most docile of the snakeheads.
