Did you loose your job because you want to paint or write poems? There are those on public assistance from no fault of their own, I don't think this is who Joe is refering too. He is refering to those who don't work and don't take care of their finacial responsablities because they are only out doing what makes them happy instead.

Get an education, then get a job, become a productive member of society and then persue happiness. Instead of some one else fitting the bill for these people only persuing their happiness.

No I didn't lose my job because of I wanted to paint or what ever. I understood that was joe is talking about but there are people like me who pay taxes and still require public assistance to maintain.

Why can't you your pursue happiness while getting and education or job? Or even get an education and job in what brings you happiness? athletes arent athletes for the money they push themselves thru out their life to play their sport at a pro level. Many dont make to pro level but still love the sport. Pro wrestlers and fighters dont put their body and life on the line if they dont love to fight. Like Liz said not everyone is built the same. Some love school. Some aren't as book smart as others. I know I hated school not because of the work but my learning disability made it difficult.

I cant see the vid on my phone, but i think i know what it might be about...

Anyway, im that type of person... Never wanted to do things the traditional way and couldnt care about making tons of money as long as i loved what i do...

By doing that i have indeed excelled at what i do, since i was never a book nerd type destined to be a doctor / lawyer type, but more creative type of person who needed real world experience doing what i loved and not "learning" about it from some book as read by a professor whos probably never actually had much or any real world experience...

finally someone who sees the video like i saw the video...and he did not even see the video..........lol

i just got to watch the video cause i couldnt see it from my phone. first i must say it is inspiring to me personally. from what i understand its not the fact of paying bills or education that hes aiming at, its the pursuit of happiness in life period.

yes,, if you need to do any job because you need money..of course then you will need to do it.. whether you like it or not.. but he is talking to young people with their whole life ahead of them... they can make choices ..at least some can....

I guess it boils down to this what is more important, fullfilling your responsablities or pursuit of happiness? Most find middle ground between the two by sacraficing some happiness.

i don't think any of this was the message in this video......... no one wants unproductive member... it is trying to make a more productive happier person acheive personal happiness in their work......... something i think would make the job they are doing more productive because they enjoy it.

"What would you like to do IF money were no object" It's a hypithetical question because in reality money unforntunatly needed for most to live. Why acheive personal happiness in your work if you can't afford do to anything outside of work? Sounds more like Living to work instead of working to live. Work is only a fractional part of my life, there are times that I don't like it or don't care to be there. Knowing the results of my labor will pay of after work seems much better proposal then having some fun loving job that barely pays for me to survive let alone have any happiness outside of work.

May be a little outdated too, since this guy died 40 years ago.

Brain i understand completely what your saying.. and if this worked for you "then you are where you should be"........It is not the same for everyone.. and by no means was this video meant to be for everyone.. but if someone is having a problem deciding what is more important to him in life... {for the person who can still make a choice} then this video is for them.

Realistically in todays world, if you persue a career strickly on the basis of what you like to do and it by no means pays for you to live, then what good is it?

If you are born poor its not your fault but if you die poor you have nobody to blame but yourself. I believe that is a quote by Bill Gates. And I agree most people are at their current job for the money.
